Seahawks vs. Packers: Performances Worth Noting

The Good

WR Percy Harvin (Seattle Seahawks)

The Seahawks offense is an entirely different beast when Harvin is healthy.  He proved this to be the case Thursday night: as a receiver, as a running back, and a kick returner.  Harvin is an explosive player, whenever he takes the field he is a threat for a big play. He finished the night with 7 receptions for 59 yards, 4 carries for 41 yards, and a more than healthy total of return yards.

RB Marshawn Lynch (Seattle Seahawks)

Lynch seemed to break at least one tackle on every single one of his carries, as he rumbled his way to 110 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns and a 14 yard reception. He is one of the league’s best backs and it showed Thursday night.

TE Zach Miller (Seattle Seahawks)

Miller had an absolutely beautiful catch in the 2nd quarter, snagging an overthrown ball with one hand for a big gain and first down.  He finished the game with 3 receptions for 42 yards.

RB John Kuhn (Green Bay Packers)

Who? You may not know his name, but Kuhn has been in this league a long time: 8 seasons, in fact. As a fullback he spends more time blocking than carrying the football, but the Packers gave Kuhn the ball on the 2 yard line to cap off a drive that began with an overambitious Earl Thomas muffing a punt in his first game as a returner.

Kuhn capitalized on this opportunity, extending over a pile of Seahawks defenders to punch the ball through the plane and put the first touchdown of the game on the board.

The Bad

RB Eddie Lacy (Green Bay Packers)

It’s hard to blame a player for not producing against this historically great Seattle defense. But this game was downright ugly for the second-year Packers star running back: he put up just 34 yards on 12 carries (under 3 yards per carry) before leaving the game with a possible concussion. The Packers will hope Lacy’s injury is a minor one.

LB Brad Jones (Green Bay Packers)

Jones had a couple bad holding calls, including one on third down that allowed the Seahawks to continue a late 4th quarter drive that led to a touchdown, putting the Seahawks up 36 – 16 and the game all but out of reach.

FS Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (Green Bay Packers)

To be fair, this game was more a mixed bag than entirely bad for the rookie safety. He had a few tackles and nearly grabbed an interception when Russell Wilson chucked the ball up deep as the first half drew to a close. But Clinton-Dix also missed a few tackles and bit on a play-action that resulted in a Seahawks touchdown pass. He has a lot of promise, but Thursday night he looked like what he was: a rookie playing his first game in the NFL.

Anyone Trying to Tackle Marshawn Lynch (Green Bay Packers)

I don’t know why they even try.
