Jameis Winston to Miss Entire Game vs. Clemson

Florida State’s star quarterback Jameis Winston is in the news once again for his off the field issues, this time for standing up on a table in the student union and shouting an objectionable phrase.

At first, the school suspended Winston for just half the Clemson game due to this incident. Late Friday night, less than 24 hours before the game, Florida State has announced Winston will miss the entire game.

The punishment may seem harsh out of context, but it makes sense considering Winston’s history. Previous run-ins with police, rape allegations, stealing crab legs from a Publix supermarket, and now this: Florida State is sending a clear message to their Heisman trophy and National Championship winner. Shape up or face the consequences. If not for his school, Winston should get his act together for himself, as all this incidents are seriously damaging his draft stock. No NFL team wants a player that is constantly suspended.

The starter on Saturday for the Noles is now Sean Maguire, who has only 26 career pass attempts to his name. Running back Karlos Williams should see a larger workload with Winston out, but he is going to face an unfortunate matchup against a formidable Clemson front 7. Tomorrow suddenly looks like a much tougher day than anticipated for Florida State.
