5 Sneaky Fantasy Football Plays For Wild Card Weekend

The 2014 NFL Playoffs arrive on Saturday afternoon, as the wild card round gets going. That marks the beginning of the end of a fantastic NFL season, as well as any chance of playing fantasy football. Just four rounds remain in the playoffs, and each passing week brings us one step closer to a long break from pro football action.

Now is the time to take advantage and try to win some cash in your league’s fantasy playoffs, or go compete on daily fantasy sports sites. With that in mind, we’ve uncovered five sneaky plays, regardless of your fantasy football league of choice:

Andy Dalton, QB, Cincinnati Bengals

Dalton generated zero points earlier this year when he faced the Colts in Indy, but with the season on the line, that’s doubtful to happen again. Dalton could be without stud wide receiver A.J. Green (concussion), but Indy’s defense hasn’t been great down the stretch and this is a huge game. Dalton has struggled against good teams on the road (specifically in the playoffs), but he’s a fairly sneaky play with everyone betting against him.

Josh Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Le’Veon Bell banged his knee up in the week 17 season finale and has officially been ruled out for Pittsburgh’s game against the Ravens this weekend. That puts the little-known Harris directly in line for a solid role. The matchup stinks and we can’t be sure if Harris will be any good or even touch the ball enough to produce, but he’s dirt cheap on DFS games and no one will see him coming. If you’re looking for a sneaky fantasy sleeper, you won’t find many better than this.

Donte Moncrief, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Everyone in Indy’s passing game seems to be banged up, save for Moncrief, who has produced two huge games as a rookie. He’s got an inconsistent role in an offense that loves to spread the love, but he’s at home in a huge game where the Colts will undoubtedly have to throw quite a bit. Indy managed to drop over 340 passing yards on the Bengals earlier this year, so if Moncrief can get a piece of the action, he could be worth taking a stab on.

Mohamed Sanu, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Sanu might be a little more obvious that others, but he’s a sleeper, nonetheless. A.J. Green might miss this game, but with a concussion he could be limited or at risk of getting knocked out, either way. Sanu slowed down remarkably to end the year and half of his upside rides on Dalton, but he clearly is going to enter this contest with a chance at putting up some solid numbers.

Lock: Greg Olsen, TE, Carolina Panthers

If those four sleepers don’t suit your fancy, perhaps our lock of the week will. Olsen is a pretty solid tight end by any regards after one of his best NFL seasons to date, but he’s heading into a sweet matchup with the Arizona Cardinals and is probably the safest tight end to use this weekend. Arizona specifically has been atrocious against tight ends, though, and the big, athletic Olsen will draw plenty of targets at home with this favorable matchup. If he doesn’t produce 10+ fantasy points, we’ll be shocked.
