Week 1 Steelers vs. Browns: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good

RB Le’Veon Bell (Pittsburgh Steelers): Bell was outstanding Sunday, rushing for 109 yards, 84 of those yards after contact, and a touchdown. He was also valuable as a receiver, catching 6 receptions for 88 yards. Bell was near impossible to tackle, forcing 11 missed tackle. Browns defenders are glad this game is over.

RB Terrence West (Cleveland Browns): Bell wasn’t the only running back to shine in this game. When starter Ben Tate went down with an injury, West stepped in and proved that he was able to replicate the impressive play he showcased in practice in an actual, regular season, real-life NFL game. West made the most of his 16 carries, turning them into an even 100 yards. Not bad for a rookie out of Towson State.

The Bad

WR Miles Austin (Cleveland Browns):  It was a quiet night for the former Cowboy, catching just 2 passes for 20 yards. Andrew Hawkins emerged as the most viable replacement for the suspended Josh Gordon, catching 8 receptions for 87 yards. Austin’s days of 1,000 yard receiving seasons look to be far behind him.

The Ugly

RT Marcus Gilbert (Pittsburgh Steeler): The Steelers picked up the win, but they also carried the distinction of having the worst individual performance between both teams. Gilbert was ineffective all night, giving up 2 sacks and a penalty for holding. If he continues to play like this, the Steelers will regret locking him up with a 5-year, $30 million deal.
