Week 2 FanDuel Cheat Sheet

If you’re a fantasy junkie like me, you are probably familiar with FanDuel, the most popular daily fantasy sports site. Here are some recommendations, sorted by position and salary, for NFL players that have a favorable matchup in Week 2. Highlighted in purple are players with the absolute best matchups:

QB

Drew Brees (@ CLE): $9,400

Andrew Luck (@ PHI): $9,200

Aaron Rodgers (vs. NYJ): $9,100

Jake Locker (vs. DAL): $7,400

Rodgers had a hard time facing a tough secondary to open the season, with less than 200 passing yards and 1 touchdown to 1 interception against the Seahawks. Look for him to bounce back in a big way against the Jets, who boast an incredibly stout run defense and a weak secondary. Rodgers will be passing all day, and should easily be able to secure 300+ passing yards and 2 or more touchdowns.

RB

Marshawn Lynch (@ SD): $9,000

Demarco Murray (@ TEN): $8,500

Giovanni Bernard (vs. ATL): $7,800

Shonn Greene (vs. DAL): $5,00

Lynch is one of the highest salaries of all RBs for Week 2, due to his stalwart reputation and a 110 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns performance in Week 1. Beast Mode has an incredible matchup in Week 2 against the San Diego run defense, one of the worst group of 3-4 defensive linemen in recent memory. Lynch should have a field day.

Greene may seem like an odd pick, but at $5,000 he offers something no one else does at his price range: a RB1 role for his team. Rookie Bishop Sankey will take over soon, and Dexter McCluster will steal some carries. But in Week 1, Greene led the backfield with 15 carries, and he will also get the most goalline touches. He looks due for a dozen or more carries for the time being, as well as a healthy number of passing targets, giving him incredible value for his salary.

WR

Calvin Johnson (@ CAR): $9,200

Kelvin Benjamin (vs. DET): $6,600

Reggie Wayne (vs. PHI): $6,200

Kendell Wright (vs. DAL): $6,100

Allen Hurns (@ WAS): $5,700

Wright had 7 targets in Week 1 and turned them into respectable production: 6 receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. As a slot receiver, Wright doesn’t figure to score many more touchdowns, but against a weak Dallas secondary he projects to again notch 5+ receptions, which he has a good chance of turning into a 100 yard game.

Hurns may seem like a flash in the pan, coming out of nowhere for over 100 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in his first NFL start. But this rookie undrafted free agent has looked like something special since the start of the preseason, and against a weak Washington secondary he could very well turn in another big game. He’s well worth the risk at a low salary of under $6,000.
