Week 12: Thanksgiving Day Bets

First, we want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We are getting into the holiday times where Thanksgiving and Christmas come together. Both days bring some excellent sports action, and Thanksgiving will be no fluke. Five of the six teams playing on Turkey Day look to be heading to the postseason. Here are our Thanksgiving Day 2011 National Football League bets!

Green Bay Packers -6 @ Detroit Lions

Well, can the Packers keep their unbeaten streak alive. Back in 1962, the Packers were unbeaten and went into Detroit. That day, the Lions beat the Packers 26-14. Will that happen in 2011? The Packers passing offense has been great, but many people overlook their tough defense. Look for Green Bay to see a big game out of their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The defense for Green Bay is going to be able to contain Matthew Stafford. They will go at him, and go at im hard. Look for Green Bay -6 over Detroit in this game.

Miami Dolphins +7 @ Dallas Cowboys

The Miami Dolphins are playing great football. Of course, they are not heading to the postseason, but they can certainly be a spoiler. Reggie Bush is finally getting going out of his new offense. Look for Bush to be able to run on the Dallas defense. Offensively, the Cowboys are playing well, with Romo taking care of the football. But Miami’s defense has improved since the early part of the season. We look for this game to be close all the way through. When it comes down to it, the home team gets the win, but Miami covers the spread. We are betting the Miami Dolphins +7 over the Dallas Cowboys.

San Francisco 49ers +3.5 @ Baltimore Ravens

The Harbaugh brothers get together in a big game. Both teams are leading their division, with San Francisco at 9-1, and atop the NFC West. Baltimore is 7-3 and tied with Pittsburgh in first place in the AFC North. The Ravens hold the tiebreaker over the Steelers, with their two head-to-head wins. Baltimore has yet to lose at home this season, while struggling on the road. San Francisco has done this before – going out east and taking on tough teams from the East Coast. Look for them to do it again, but come up just a little bit short this time. We are going to take the San Francisco 49ers to cover the +3.5 points, but in the end, Baltimore sneaks out with a 1 point win.

We elected to go with the three road teams on Thanksgiving Day. Two of the three road teams are underdogs, but it was hard to pick all underdogs; with Green Bay being favored. We are excited for these games, and hope we have some winning picks for you. Check back Saturday for our Week 12 NFL bets for the Sunday games!
