Week 1 Bears vs. Bills: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good

RB Matt Forte (Chicago Bears): There is a reason why Forte was drafted in the top 5 of all but every single fantasy league. He is an elite option as both a rusher and a receiver, and it showed Sunday with 82 rushing yards and 8 receptions for 82 yards. He didn’t score any touchdowns, but that will be more an exception than the rule if he continues to put up 150+ total yards from scrimmage a game.

QB E.J. Manuel (Buffalo Bills): Manuel was responsible for both of the Bills’ touchdowns, running one in during the first quarter and hooking up with C.J. Spiller for a 7 yard TD reception in the second.

The Bad

QB Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears): If you just look at the stats from this game it appears Cutler didn’t do too bad, throwing for 349 yards and 2 touchdowns. But he also had 2 costly interceptions, and he was lucky he didn’t throw more interceptions the way he was throwing the ball into heavy coverage. Cutler’s up and down play allowed the Bills to pull off this upset.

LB Brandon Spikes (Buffalo Bills): Much was expected of Spikes when he was brought over from the Patriots this offseason. To his credit, Spikes did pick up a sack on Cutler, but he also missed 3 tackles on the day. He’ll have to be more consistent than that to justify the $3 million the Bills are paying him this year.

The Ugly

CB Leodis McKelvin (Buffalo Bills): The Bears have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, so we knew going into this game it wasn’t going to be a good day for the Buffalo secondary. McKelvin was especially weak, being targeted 14 times and allowed 10 catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.
