2015 NFL Draft to Be Held in L.A. or Chicago

The NFL Draft will be changing it’s location next year. Per reports, the 2015 NFL Draft will no longer be held at Radio Music City Hall in New York, but will instead move to either Chicago or Los Angeles. Due to the NFL waiting too long to commit to hosting the event at Radio Music City Hall, the host of the draft since 1965.

While the NFL could catch some grief for taking their time and ultimately losing their hold on the one venue the event has had since the 1960’s, the switch actually opens things up for the yearly draft to be a much bigger spectacle than it already has begun.

The 2014 NFL Draft followed the three-day trend that had been installed previously, but future venues could split the event up into four days. In fact, there is even talk that future drafts could be split up between more than one venue and up to four days.

Some fans will scoff at the NFL dragging out it’s second biggest event of the year (behind the Super Bowl), but the reality is, it’s a no-brainer for the league. Fans pay attention to the draft leading up to the event, and fans hoping their team will make the right addition each year are often glued to their television screens. It’s open for debate if stretching a three-day event one more day will make it more or less exciting, but it’s clear the NFL will try just about anything to see if they can make their product better.

Leaving Radio Music City Hall is step one. While cities like Los Angeles and Chicago are obviously huge venues and will draw big crowds, changing up locations on a yearly basis could be a big draw – especially when it comes to livelier locations like Las Vegas or even overseas.

For now, it looks like the 2015 NFL Draft will take place in either Los Angeles or Chicago and will shift from May back to it’s original month of May.
